Flying TUI With Your Dog: Cabin, Hold, Fees and How to Book

Going on holiday with TUI? Your dog can come along: small dogs in the cabin on flights within Europe and around the Mediterranean, bigger dogs in the hold, even on long-haul. TUI fly Netherlands and TUI fly Belgium have almost the same rules, but you book in a different way. Here's the short version, checked September 2026. Rules change, so confirm on the pet page of TUI Netherlands or TUI fly Belgium before you fly.

In the cabin: up to 8 kg, dog and bag together

  • Weight: max 8 kg for dog + bag together.
  • Bag: max 50 × 35 × 30 cm. TUI fly Belgium only allows a closed, soft, waterproof bag.
  • Where you sit: you need a window seat. On TUI fly Belgium, two passengers with pets can't sit next to each other.
  • Which flights: Europe and the Mediterranean only. No pets in the cabin on long-haul flights.
  • How many (Belgium): 1 pet per passenger, max 3 in the cabin per flight. TUI Netherlands only says the number is limited.
  • Age: at least 3 months (TUI fly Belgium also mentions 12 weeks).

In the hold: kennels up to 121 × 81 × 86 cm, also on long-haul

Too big for the cabin? Your dog flies in the heated hold, the luggage space under the floor of your own plane. You hand it over at check-in and pick it up after landing.

  • Kennel: a hard, airline-approved kennel of max 121 × 81 × 86 cm, with wheels removed. Wire crates are not accepted. See what a hold kennel must have.
  • Sharing a kennel (Netherlands): up to 3 puppies under 6 months from one litter, or 2 dogs under 14 kg each that live together.
  • How many (Belgium): 1 pet per passenger, max 4 in the hold per flight.
  • Not on every plane: TUI Netherlands has no hold option on flights operated by Freebird, SmartLynx or Leav, because those planes have no heated hold. On TUI fly Belgium flights to Turkey operated by Freebird, only small pets in the cabin can fly.

Flat-nosed dogs: never in the hold

TUI does not take snub-nosed breeds in the hold, crossbreeds included. The list includes all bulldogs and pugs, boxers, Boston terriers, mastiffs, Shar-Peis, Shih Tzus, Pekingese, Lhasa Apsos and Chow Chows. TUI fly Belgium allows them in the cabin under 8 kg. TUI Netherlands' pages contradict each other on this, so call TUI before you book a flat-nosed dog.

Where TUI won't take your dog

  • Cape Verde (TUI fly Belgium): no pets, in the cabin or the hold, in either direction.
  • Long-haul in the cabin: not possible; only the hold.
  • Extra papers: for Turkey, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Montenegro you also need a health certificate. Cyprus requires a tapeworm and tick treatment 24 to 48 hours before departure.

What it costs

  • Cabin: €60 per one-way flight.
  • Hold: €90 per one-way flight.
  • TUI fly Belgium: not registered in advance? You pay €40 extra at the airport.

How to book your dog's spot

TUI Netherlands:

  1. Book your trip, then register your dog with TUI's special baggage form, at least 3 working days before departure.
  2. Print the "Live Animal Acceptance Checklist" (Appendix F23) twice, sign both, and bring them to check-in. You also sign a form of indemnity at the desk.
  3. Be at the airport at least 2 hours before departure.

TUI fly Belgium:

  1. Add your dog when you book online, later in myTUI, or through your travel agent, no later than 3 days before departure.
  2. Bring 2 copies of the Live Animal Acceptance Checklist to check-in.
  3. Be at the airport at least 2 hours before departure.

In both cases, bring the EU pet passport, a microchip and a rabies shot at least 21 days old.

Flying TUI fly from Germany?

TUI fly Deutschland has its own rules: a bigger cabin bag (55 × 40 × 20 cm), €40 in the cabin on international flights, €95–115 in the hold depending on the destination, and no animals at all to or from the UK, Ireland or Sweden. See TUI's German pet page.
